The MKJ Homes Summer Food Drive has wrapped for the season, and we are genuinely grateful for the response from this community and beyond.
Over the course of two weeks, from June 22 through July 5, neighbors stopped by Dowden Terrace Pool in Alexandria to drop off donations. Others gave online from near and far. And bit by bit, it added up to something real.
The 2026 Results:
- 232 pounds of food collected and delivered
- $675 raised through online donations, surpassing our $500 goal
Every bit of it went directly to ALIVE!, the Alexandria nonprofit that has been fighting local food insecurity for over 50 years. If you want to see where the donations went, we brought a camera along for the delivery. You can watch the video here. (link to YouTube video)
A few thank yous that deserve to be said out loud.
To everyone who brought food: one can, one bag, one trip to the pool. That is how 232 pounds comes together.
To everyone who donated online: you raised $675. We set a goal of $500 and you exceeded it. That means everything to the people ALIVE! serves.
To Dowden Terrace Pool: thank you for opening your doors as our drop-off location and helping spread the word all summer long. We are proud to call this pool a partner.
