The 2023 Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® Residential Market Forecast has arrived and it’s looking like a mild year. Yes, we remain in a season of market shift caused by a rapid increase of mortgage rates as our economy tries to cool inflation, however a calming of the 2022 hot summer could be a good thing. Instant demand may lessen, sales may slow depending on the property, and prices should become more stable. There remains limited inventory out there, so the market still favors the seller. It’s also a great time for buyers to take more time to make a home purchase decision. Overall, 2023 will be a year of transition from the pre-pandemic model to a more traditional market. We will have to weather this together.
